Our FAQs

How long does it take to build my custom cabinets?

Production for most custom cabinets takes approximately 5-6 weeks, depending on the materials used and the size of the project. Larger, multi-stage custom projects often take 8-12 weeks to complete. Our simpler, semi-custom cabinet line can be manufactured in 3-4 weeks depending on the material styles chosen.

What are my payment options?

We accept payments via credit, debit, or cheque, with a 50% downpayment required when we come for final measurements, with the final balance due on the delivery of your cabinets.

How long does it take to get a quote?

We do our best to get back to each new inquiry within 1-2 business days.

Is installation optional?

We strongly recommend that you choose our trained installers to install your project. However, you may choose to install your cabinets yourself, which forgoes your warranty.

How does the design process work?

Our design and sales teams will work directly with you to ensure that each part of the project meets our standards and your expectations.

Part of our design process is face to face interaction with the customer to ensure that each part of the project is properly covered. This allows our design team to show the customer the wide variety of wood species, finishes and hardware solutions that are available with the design of a custom kitchen or other space in your home. By having the customer sit down with our design team this helps us to be able to efficiently meet the needs of the customer in designing their perfect space. We use industry leading kitchen design software to offer our customers the best possible design process. We also do on-site consultations with our customers to go through the exact details of their project. The Netley Millwork design process is a big part of our customer satisfaction. Over the years we have found that by having our sales staff sit down and design the project with the customer we avoid many of the problems that so often arise in the design and manufacturing of custom cabinets. Our customers also always feel that they are always part of the process and that they have a say in how their kitchen is designed, and the result is a better overall customer experience.

We know that installing your cabinets properly means you can enjoy them for years to come, which is why employ a team of talented and qualified installers who ensure that each cabinet is installed according to the specific needs of each project.

What kind of countertops does Netley Millwork sell?

We sell laminate, quartz and granite countertops. Most of our countertop work is outsourced, and we work with many high-quality suppliers such as Floform, Cambria, Granite Mountain and Elegance in Stone.

How long does it take to install my countertop?

Laminate countertops are installed by our team at the same time as your cabinets are installed in your kitchen, while solid-surface countertops are installed by our suppliers.

Solid surface countertops are templated after the cabinets have been installed to ensure that the countertop is a perfect fit, and most installations take place 10 – 14 days after templating.

How long does installation take?

Installation typically takes 2-3 days, depending on specifications such as molding and trim. Larger, multi-stage projects may take between 5-7 days to install.

What’s the difference between quartz and granite?

Granite and quartz countertops are low-maintenance, popular, and durable countertop options which typically last about 50 years and are heat, scratch, stain, and chemical resistant.

Quartz countertops are engineered from natural quartz, while granite is a natural stone. As a result, granite countertops are only available in limited colours, while quartz is available in a wide variety of shades and hues.

Granite is cold to touch, is resistant to high heat, and is the ideal surface for baking. Quartz, on the other hand, is less heat-resistant and not an ideal surface for baking or preparing meals.

How do I clean and care for my cabinets?

Avoid excessive moisture on your new cabinets; cleaning with a clean or damp 100% cotton cloth will wipe away most stains and splatters. If necessary, use a small amount of mild dish detergent to remove dried-on stains. For best results, wipe in the same direction as the wood grain.

Do not use products containing: ammonia, wax, bleach, or silicone, as they may damage the finish on your wood products.

Why is it necessary to have appliance specs and measurements before designing my kitchen?

Designing a kitchen almost always involves proper appliance placement not only for ease and comfort during everyday kitchen usage, but also to help figure out electrical & plumbing as well as opening sizes that are required. Our designers will help you place the appliances in order to get the most efficient use out of your kitchen, so it is very important to have the proper appliance specifications when you come to us to do the design work.

What type of finish options do you offer?

We offer a wide selection of finish options including stains, paint, clear coating, and even glazed finish options. We also offer many pre-finished melamine, polyester and vinyl options.

How far ahead should I plan my kitchen/Project?

Manufacturing your cabinets may take 5 – 6 weeks for standard jobs, and 8 – 12 weeks for more custom projects. With this in mind, we strongly recommend that you speak to us about the design and manufacturing of our cabinets to allow for this timeline. For homeowners building new homes or renovating, we suggest bringing your measurements and drawings with you to begin designing your kitchen as soon as possible.

What should the humidity level be in my home to avoid warping issues?

In order to help your cabinets keep their look, structure, and finish, we recommend maintaining an indoor humidity level of 40 to 50% percent at all times.

Uncontrolled extremes above 80% or below 20% will cause problems such as warping, shrinking, and contracting which may affect the look and structure of your cabinets. With this in mind, we recommend consistently running heating, cooling, and humidification systems as necessary in order to maintain a balance.

How does UV light affect my Kitchen?

Natural sunlight contains Ultraviolet (UV) rays which may affect the appearance of your cabinets over time. Some wood types like Cherry & Walnut are more prone to fading than other types of wood.

We used the latest finishing options to keep the finish on your cabinets looking as new as possible, but it’s normal to experience some minor changes over time. If you’re concerned about UV light affecting your cabinets, make sure to discuss it during the design stage of your project.

Warranty Questions

Netley Millwork warrants to the original consumer purchase that Netley Millwork products will be free from defects in material and workmanship for one year from the date of purchase. This warranty is only applicable to products supplied by Netley Millwork and used for their intended purpose, in residential applications within Canada, and is not transferable to subsequent owners.

Should defects exist in Netley Millwork products during the warranty period, Netley Millwork will, upon inspection of the defective material from a qualified Netley Millwork representative, elect at its discretion to either repair or replace the defective product. This warranty covers only parts and materials of products supplied by Netley Millwork, and does not cover flooring, tile, sinks, accessories, countertops manufactured by third parties, appliances, plumbing fixtures, etc., or the costs, including labor, to remove and reinstall materials and related components such as fittings, countertops, appliances, etc. Natural aging or darkening of wood color, variation in wood and grains, and normal wear are typical in solid wood, and are not considered defects. Over time gaps may develop in door joints from temperature and humidity changes. These gaps are not considered defects as they are a normal part of the aging process. As time progresses, natural and environmental elements may alter the appearance of wood products. Sunlight, smoke, household cleaners, and other environmental conditions may also affect the color match over time. Netley Millwork will make its best efforts to match the appearance of any repair or replacement to the original products but cannot guarantee an exact color match.

Netley Millwork provides a limited warranty on finishes (painted or varnish) due to cracking, chipping, and/or joint separation. Due the natural expansion and/or shrinking of wood products resulting from changes in humidity, small cracks or chips may appear in the finish and joints may separate. As this is a result of natural change in the wood product, they are not considered defects covered under this warranty. Although Netley Millwork manufactures all their wood products to prevent warping or twisting, no warranty is provided for warping or twisting on solid wood products over 24 inches in width or 48 inches in height/length, including panels, doors, coversheets, etc.

This warranty shall become void if Netley Millwork products are in any way modified, improperly installed or damaged prior to or during installation (if not installed by Netley Millwork). Furthermore, this warranty does not cover products damaged by improper storage, misuse, abuse, mishandling, acts of God, exposure to moisture, exposure to extreme temperatures, exposure to significant changes in humidity, normal incidental deterioration such as nicks, scratches, abrasions, and natural aging whether resulting from effects of normal wear and tear or abnormal use. Products not manufactured by Netley Millwork may be covered by a warranty from the manufacturer. At all times, the manufacturer’s warranty will take precedence over any warranty provided by Netley Millwork. Please note that Netley Millwork continuously strives to provide the best quality products to its customers, however, due to availability from the manufacturer or other circumstances outside its control, identical replacement parts may not be available. Netley Millwork will not be held responsible in the event replacement parts differ from the parts originally supplied at the time of purchase.
